Senior Buyer - Procurement
Full-Time, Permanent

Title: Senior Buyer Procurement

Reports to: Purchasing and Inventory Control Manager

Based at: Mucci International Marketing Inc., Kingsville, Ontario 

Type of Employment: Full time, permanent 5 days a week which includes, extended hours depending on workload and priorities, which will include some Saturdays. For internal purposes this role will be called a Lead Buyer.

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Develop and maintain strategic sourcing documents and acquire in-depth subject matter expertise and market intelligence for category
  • Independently and confidently coordinate highly complex multi-functional strategies
  • Source and establish relationships with suppliers who deliver top-quality products and services at competitive prices, while upholding the highest ethical standards and conduct
  • Identify problems and find creative solutions to meet customer demands
  • Track, monitor and maintain purchase order deliveries to drive on-time delivery to schedules. Expedite Purchase Orders as required to meet stakeholder requirements and timelines
  • Oversee Direct and Indirect Spend categories including Corrugate, Resin, Labels, MRO, Services, and Capex supplies
  • Assess supplier bids using effective negotiation and procurement strategies to ensure optimal quality, pricing, delivery, and service
  • Develop, implement, and oversee purchasing reporting systems (KPIs) to align with company needs
  • Source and establish relationships with suppliers who deliver top-quality products and services at competitive prices, while upholding the highest ethical standards and conduct
  • Perform on-going reviews of product, service, equipment, and expense usage to identify new opportunities for cost savings
  • Create RFQs, search for suppliers, and issue BIDs to secure optimal cost benefits for the organization
  • Provide regular updates to the Purchasing and Inventory Manager on current and potential inventory issues, accurately track all open purchase orders, and prepare reports on market conditions and organizational spending
  • Analyze inventories to enhance flow, reduce waste, and establish appropriate min/max levels.
  • Accurately track and monitor all open purchase orders
  • Work with cross-functional teams and assist the Inventory Control team with maintaining proper inventory levels
  • Perform any other job duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary business diploma or degree or related field is preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in a Purchasing/Buyer role is required
  • Previous experience coaching and mentoring junior buyers would be an asset
  • Previous experience in the food industry is highly desirable
  • Previous experience purchasing packaging is preferred
  • Proven ability to negotiate with vendors and suppliers
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Windows and ERP software
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner with staff and Grower members to ensure the daily supplies of all packaging related materials
  • Able to meet Company and or Customer tasks and deadlines

Physical Abilities:

  • Must be able to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs
  • Must be able to lift material regularly up to 14 kg / 30 lbs; and occasionally up to 23 kg / 50lbs
  • Must be able to climb stairs and stand on feet for an extended period of time
  • Must be able to work in a temperature-controlled environment of approximately 13 ˚C / 55 ˚F

Title: Forklift Driver

Reports to: Warehouse Supervisor

Based at: Mucci PAC USA, Romulus, Michigan

Type of Employment: Full time, permanent, 6-days a week, Monday to Saturday, potential Sundays depending on workload

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Examine contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment.
  • Confer and correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications.
  • Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and record keeping purposes.
  • Ensure FIFO stock rotation within our facility and coolers.
  • Loads and unloads materials to and from designated storage areas, or vehicles.
  • Stacks or piles materials, pallets, etc.
  • Bundles and bands with material banding machines.
  • Sorts and stores items according to specifications.
  • Attaches identifying tags or marks information on containers.
  • Ensures/maintains a clean work area, using brooms, rags, and cleaning compounds.
  • Installs protective devices, such as bracing, padding or strapping, to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported.
  • Record any maintenance required for equipment for safety and to mimize risks.
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Follows work orders or receives and listens to oral instructions to determine work assignment.
  • Completes daily fork lift inspection for safety and to minimize risks.
  • Follows established safety regulations; appropriate use of signals (horns), proper use of seatbelts, scanning guns and other equipment as required.
  • Additional tasks as required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Safe driver as a fork lift operator and conduct daily equipment inspections.
  • Previous experience with vegetables or comparable environment is preferred.
  • Related experience in logistics will be considered an asset; however training will be provided to the successful candidate.
  • Ability to conduct basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written, oral and spoken) in English.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs including Microsoft Outlook.
  • Knowledge of Famous and RedLine Cooler programs (for inventory management) will be considered an asset.
  • Must be able to work independently or within a team setting.
  • Positive attitude, punctual and willing to grow within the company.

Physical Abilities:

  • Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be physically fit and able to repetitively lift heavy material (i.e. up to 23 kg / 50 lbs.)
  • Work in a temperature controlled environment of approximately 52 degrees.

Based at:  Mucci Pac, Kingsville, ON

Type of Employment:  Full time, permanent, 6-days a week, Monday to Saturday, steady afternoon shift or and potentially extended hours depending on workload and priorities, which could include possible Sunday shifts (unless otherwise stipulated in offer of employment).

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Examine and inspect containers, materials, and products in order to ensure that packing specifications are met, using CFIA/ USDA grades & standards as reference to complete inspections on various greenhouse commodities.
  • Obtain, move, and sort products, materials, containers, and orders.
  • Measure, weigh, and count products and materials.
  • Record product, packaging, and order information on specified forms and records.
  • Examine contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment.
  • Confer and correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications.
  • Utilize mobile application and smart devices to take photos and prepare quality reports for distribution to other departments.
  • Support and drive the execution of the company goals and department KPI’s.
  • Communicate identified issues or concerns to the team leader, supervisor or manager.
  • Comply with the company standard of Food Safety and Environmental Health and Safety.
  • Any additional tasks as required.
